Along with the new round of Basic Education Curriculum Reform,educational scholars have been deepening their discussions on key competencies and education models.The Nineteenth People's Congress of the Party further emphasized “Carrying out the fundamental task of building up people by virtue,developing quality education”.Based on these requirements,the Ministry of Education has revised the standard of the ordinary high school curriculum.English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017)put forward the key competencies of English subject,including: “language ability”,“cultural awareness”,“thinking quality”,and “learning ability”.In today's practical classroom,under the influence of the examination system,the characteristics of English subjects and other aspects,most teachers still mainly use the “face to face” teaching method to complete the English teaching.Students accept the contents of teacher's indoctrination passively.This kind of English teaching method doesn't reflect the ideals advocated by the English key competencies.Due to the lack of spoken English environment,students,parents,and even teachers are less concerned about English learning.At the same time,students' learning enthusiasm is not high.Especially,they have poor independent learning ability and cooperative inquiry ability.With the increasing impact of information technology on the field of education,flipped classroom teaching model as a new organization form and teaching model has gradually entered people's field of vision.Compared with the neglect of thinking quality and learning ability in traditional classroom,flipped classroom focuses more on stimulating students' enthusiasm for learning and improving students' independent learning ability and cooperative inquiry ability.These characteristics coincide with the requirements of high school English curriculum reform.Based on key competencies,this thesis studied on the application of flipped classroom teaching model in English classroom teaching of senior high school.The main purpose is to verify whether can flipped classroom teaching model improve senior high school students' enthusiasm and English learning abilities,cultivating their key competencies or not.In the specific study,two classes of No.2 Middle School of Huangdao District were selected as the research subject.Senior high school English compulsory five and six published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press were the teaching materials.Combined with the test results before and after the experiment,taking a questionnaire survey method as an aid,the author designed the specific flipped classroom teaching model.In the actual English teaching,the designed flipped classroom teaching model was applied to the experimental class,compared with the control class to draw the conclusion.Through the research,the author found that the application of flipping classroom in English teaching of senior high school was effective.On one hand,it can improve students' enthusiasm in English learning and improve their English learning abilities.On the other hand,flipped classroom teaching model can promote the cultivation of their key competencies.Moreover,combined with the findings of this study,the author proposed some limitations and pointed out a direction for future research.
