The English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education(2011)advocates autonomous,cooperative,and exploring ways of learning.As its implementation and promotion,group cooperative learning has generally entered middle school English classes,and it has gradually become one of the main English learning methods.As a new learning mode,cooperative learning is to divide students into groups,through the process evaluation of individuals and groups in the classroom,it fully arouses the students' learning enthusiasm to complete the learning task.It can not only cover the shortage in traditional teaching,but also can cultivate students' creative thinking,cooperative spirit,autonomous learning ability and communicative language ability.Based on motivation theory,social interdependence theory and cohesion theory,the thesis has absorbed the research results of cooperative studies at home and abroad.It mainly uses the experimental method and the questionnaire survey method.The following three questions are studied:(1)Can traditional teaching methods satisfy the requirements of contemporary junior middle school English classroom teaching?(2)Can the efficiency of group cooperative learning teaching be improved?(3)What are the advantages of group cooperative learning in junior middle school English classroom teaching?Through the research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The traditional classroom teaching mode has certain drawbacks,such as students' learning interest is not strong;the students' awareness of seeking help is weak.(2)Group cooperative learning can enhance the efficiency of English classroom teaching in junior middle school;it can help the excellent students,promote the middle students,but also can transform underachiever students.(3)The implementation of group cooperative learning has many advantages,such as it can create a harmonious learning environment;develop the students' independent learning ability.At the end,some reasonable suggestions are put forward,such as setting up the view of students' all-round development;helping students to master cooperative skills;teaching students to understand the essence of cooperative learning;cultivating students' effective learning methods;making proper encouraging comments and so on.
