With the rapid development of science and technology as well as the fierce international competition,each country devotes itself in the educative reform to improve the quality of the nation.Curriculum revolution plays an important part in the educative reform and the main supporter of the curriculum are textbooks.So it's very significant to analyze the characteristics and the merits and the demerits of the textbooks to advance the educative reform.In this article,we made a whole analysis and comparison in the passage Molecule And Cell(compulsory biology subject for high school students book I)from different versions of the textbooks(People's Education Press and Jiangsu Province Education Press)according to the suggestions for the edition of textbook and the teaching practice from General senior high school biology curriculum standard(experiment).Every high school student in China have to learn Molecule And Cell not only because it belongs to the compulsory biology subject but it is the core knowledge of the whole book as well.The two different text versions have been used for over 10 years since they were approved firstly in 2004 by the National Primary and Secondary School Teaching Material Committee.There are some old knowledge need to be updated because of the fast development of the bioscience in this brand-new century.The methodology in this article are literature review and the comparison for the specific analysis in the differences between the two textbook versions in terms of the passage structure,passage content,demonstration,present mode,design of experiments,design of exercises,application of illustration.And compared with the Standard for the preparation and implementation of the recommendationsTwo editions of textbooks has the following characteristics because of the editors' understanding differences for Standard:(1)In structural arrangement,there are no obvious differences between the two text versions in their passage structures,but in terms of the logicality of the partial knowledge and the relationship between the present knowledge andthe knowledge later,the textbook published by Jiangsu Province Education Press(referred to as JS)is more accurate than it in People's Education Press version(referred to as RJ).(2)In knowledge arrangement,editors being responsible for People's Education Press paid more attention to the definition of the knowledge,but the definition accuracy in this version is worth than the other one.(3)In the category design,there are more designed columns(including two unique distinguishable columns-imagination and critical thinking)in RJ version than in JS version.There is also a shortcoming in JS version,that is they ignored the relationship between different subjects while other columns in JS version had their own well defined goals.(4)For the experiments,students learning JS version need to be more independent to explore the advanced knowledge than those learning RJ version.(5)In exercises,the difficulty in JS version is higher than RJ version because there were many questions for the college entrance examination in JS version.(6)In illustration,the readability in JS version is better than RJ version for it owns more high-definition illustrations.In a word,we can found the advantages and disadvantages of the two editions of books in the layout and column design.The ultimate aim of this research is to provide more constructive suggestions for the textbooks in a new version.It can help us to compile a more logical,more readable,more tested,more critical and more creative biology textbook for high school students in China.Hope all our efforts can be beneficial to each teacher to understand textbooks for improving teaching efficiency and can beneficial student to cultivate better characteristics in bioscience area.
