Education is the foundation of a country. Since its reform and opening-up, our country’s education reform continues to deepen in order to adapt the socialist development of the time. History is one of the reform subjects as well. Current years, history text books are changing from one version and one curriculum standard to several versions and several curriculum standards. The new curriculum standard according to the national ministry of education in local areas have constructed their own knowledge system and shaped their own characters. The second cycle curriculum reform continues to the further development. The reform of history text books are moving into a new level. In the second cycle curriculum reform, Shanghai walks in the forefront of the army of history textbook reform. As today’s education system constantly changes, more and more people focus on the development of Shanghai’s history textbooks. How is the curriculum reform going in these years? As a member of Shanghai, it is necessary for me to think about the history text books’ present and future situation of Shanghai.Shanghai’s history book has its own feature, meanwhile, as the most widely used text history book in China, the People’s education press version has its own advantages. This paper does a comparative study of the East China normal university press version(which is used in Shanghai)and the People’s education press version(which is widely used in other places in China) of junior high school history textbooks which are popular. This paper is going to find the Commonness and individuality through the contrast with two versions’ structure style and content system. Meanwhile, this paper will give some opinions about junior middle school history textbooks of the East China normal university press version. This paper studies the contexts mainly from the following four aspects; the first chapter is an introduction that introduces the motive and objective of this article as well as the relevant study of inscription in academic world. The second part is the comparative study of textbook content system about the two versions. This paper compares with the directive idea of the teaching material, the proportion of arranged contents and the narrative methods about the two editions. In charter three, the paper does a concrete comparison analysis of the two edition’s whole structure, unit structure and the words expressing way. On the basis of the first two characters, the paper comes to some related conclusions about the East China normal university press version and the People’s education press version. The two versions have something in common and their own characteristics. Both the history text book of the East China normal university press version and the People’s education press version are rich in teaching materials. They have the same knowledge system. Both versions are keeping pace with The Times. There are kinds of pictures and columns in both versions. Meanwhile, they pay great attention to develop the students’ ability, which shows the thought of student-centered. The difference is the East China normal university press version focuses more on cultivating students’ global perspective and rural education and the People’s education press version emphasizes more on patriotism education. What’s more, the People’s education press version is more suitable for the students, for the books are more interesting and easier to understand for Junior high school students. From the above, this paper puts forward three suggestions about the deficiency in the East China normal university press version, including the junior high school history books’ adultification of Shanghai, increasing the variety of images and the student extracurricular activities related with history in order to promote the junior school students’ study.
