As the core of teaching materials,quality of texts plays a decisive role in the quality of teaching materials.Teaching material for middle school Chinese in China has been developing from one teaching program with one kind of textbook which were commonly used nationwide to one teaching program with several textbooks which could be found everywhere and to teaching materials compiled by Ministry of Education;textbooks of Chinese have been reforming continuously.And system for selecting texts is always under discussion during such reform.The paper mainly studies Chinese textbooks for junior middle school which are published by Changchun Publishing House(Changchun version)and the ones published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House(Jiangsu version)respectively,then points out related advantages and disadvantages by summarizing,comparing and analyzing the systems for selecting texts adopted by these two versions,and finally provides three suggestions for the revision and reform of Chinese textbooks for junior middle school in future.The paper contains four parts.Part one is the introduction,which will state the reasons of research and research significance,and define the object of study.Part two will compare the ancient literary works and foreign literary works on Changchun version with the ones on Jiangsu version;after analyzing the length of article,forms of literature,and writing time of ancient literary works,it is found that ancient literary works occupy about 50% of all works on the textbooks published by Changchun Publishing House,reflecting that the idea adopted by Changchun Publishing House is “emulate the best examples outside”.Comparing selection scope and rang of subjects of foreign literary works on Chinese textbooks published by Changchun Publishing House with the ones on Chinese textbooks published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House,it could be found that Changchun Publishing House acts boldly when selects the foreign works,while foreign works chosen by Jiangsu Education Publishing House on Chinese textbooks are diversified and matured.However,selection scope of both Changchun PublishingHouse and Jiangsu Education Publishing House is narrow.Part three will compare Chinese modern and contemporary literary works on both versions;Chinese textbooks published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House focus on modern and contemporary literary works,indicating that it sticks to the unification between instrumental role and humanity;it not only centers on enriching humanistic connotation of Chinese textbooks,but also attaches importance to the profound influence on students' realm of spirit.Part four will do reflection on these two versions of Chinese textbooks,summarize related advantages and disadvantages through comparative study,and present three suggestions: Recommended selection combination;The capacity and the proportion of selected proposals;The contents of selected text suggestions.
