Performance appraisal is a long-term systematic work and a core process in Human Resource Management. It not only can evaluate employees'performance in a given period, can also be used to motivate employees innovative and enterprising. Because of the great role of promoting employee's motivation, in recent years, the theory and method of performance appraisal has been taken more attention by managers.JB company is owned by HC Group which is one of the largest truck manufacturers in China, and has independent research and development, trial production, testing capabilities. This study takes the R&D staffs as research subjects using the questionnaire method, and try to identify the causes of the reasons for inefficiency on current performance through a comprehensive analysis of the status of performance appraisal system. Based on these, this study rebuilds the R & D staff performance appraisal system in JB Company under the guidance of KPI, and 360-degree assessment method.On the basis of carding the related theories of performance appraisal system and reviewing on the research status of R&D staff performance appraisal system, this study comprehensively analyze the status of R&D staff performance appraisal system, and rebuilds the performance appraisal system combined with existing problems. This study rebuilds the evaluation system separately from three dimensions:the JB company's performance evaluation on R&D staff, R&D team performance evaluation on R&D staff and R&D department evaluation on R&D staff through analyzing the objectives and principles of performance evaluation, assessment base, main examination, assessment content, assessment period, assessment process, applications of assessment results. Also, this study proposes some safeguards which help R&D staff performance appraisal system to implement including examination system, assessment system optimization, enhancing the effectiveness of the application of evaluation results, staff training assessed, establish of assessment concept. This study provides a new way to explore ways for its R&D staff performance appraisal system in JB Company, and also provides a reference for other companies to carry out staff performance appraisal.
