Thirty years of the reform and opening to the outside world, socialist market economy obtained great progress and development, engineering construction also along with the continuous progress of economic development.At present,EPC general contracting mode is commonly used in domestic and international engineering. In the mode, the general contractor assume greater risk.If the risks can be managed effectively, it will bring benefits to the project, otherwise, it bring problems, will lead to corporate bankruptcy. J company is a design institute which was affiliated with CNPC, Company after the restructuring, the subject of design practice of the general contractor. Under the situation of today's international and domestic petrochemical industry, engineering and technology more complex, increasingly large scale, the risk of EPC increase gradually. Both development and opportunities are side-by-side. In this form, the research of J company on risk management is very important to itself, and can provide reference for other units of the same industry. It is a very important issue.This paper mainly adopts the literature research, the field survey method and the method of combining theory and practice. To elaborates the main achievements of the studies on the risk management in international and domestic and to comb the main achievements in the related theory. In the third part, introducing the basic situation of J company, on the basis to above theory and the engineering case of J company, to describe risk in design stage in the project management, project implementation stage and project completion stage. It's for risk identification and risk assessment for the rest of the article, to lay the foundation; In the fourth chapter, in the previous chapter has been engaged in risk identification, risk problems of J company's daily risk assessment and analysis, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were introduced, from design stage to the completion stage for risk identification, build the network using the network analysis evaluation model, a comprehensive evaluation, project risk is manageable, and pointed out that the company is at a level below average risk. In the fifth chapter, on the basis of the risk assessment and identification of project risk response strategy is put forward, points out that the design institute in EPC project general contracting project to the importance of risk management, strengthen risk management plays an important role to the success of the project.
