With the progress of science and technology and the increasing of human innovation abilities, to observe the current in the world scope, mankind has entered the era of the digitalization, informatization and scientific and technological innovation calculated on a day time. This phenomenon is especially prominent in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence, however, the rapid development of these areas are inseparable from one of the core product that is the high quality chip. Therefore,the development of these areas has brought unprecedented opportunities of development to the chip manufacturing industry,but it also imposes strict requirements for high quality products. Chip manufacturing enterprises to cope with the challenge and to se ek its own survival and development, the most important thing is not only able to produce the products of customer requirements,but also to ensure the high-quality products. Thus this paper argues that the chip manufacturers have to try every means to improve the work of controlling the product quality,which is an important way to stand out from the competition.Currently in chip manufacturing enterprises, widely popular methods of quality management is the new “seven methods”, however, due to this method presents various deficiencies in practice, therefore, companies are necessary to use other quality management methods to strengthen the current work of the quality management. This article through describing the new "seven gimmick" principle, and combining with semiconductor production process and principle, pointed out the clearly insufficient when this method is used for the quality control process in chip manufacturing companies. At the same time, the article from the Ford 8D's perspective of basic principle, characteristics, advantages and application areas etc, very deeply introduced this method. And combined with the characteristics of unique production and operation in the chip manufacturing enterprises, pointed out the view that Ford 8D was applied to the work of improving product quality. On this basis, the article further detailedly analyzed main advantages, feasibility, basic starting point and management pattern of applying the Ford 8D to semiconductor quality management, and overall explained t he idea that used this method to improve the work of ion implantation process. Through the empirical analysis that Ford 8D method deals with the issues of improving ion implantation process in a company, further proofed the assumption that Ford 8D method is applied in product quality improvement is feasible in practice, and is able to achieve significant results. This paper analyzed the result of using Ford 8D method to improve ion implantation process in A company by using data envelopment analysis, and proved that the quality improvement work of A company is effective. Thus, from the perspective of enterprise practical application, it proved that the chip manufacturing enterprises applied Ford 8D to improve the activities of product quality in the process of production and operation is not only feasible but also effective.In a word, the chip manufacturing enterprises to effectively cope with the increasingly fierce market competition, they must make greater efforts to control the quality of the product, while the key to quality control work is able to apply effective methods. Obviously, in the company's product quality control work, excellent and effective quality management approaches are bound to make the quality of enterprise management work more efficiently. According to Ford 8D method showed unique advantages of the improvement of product quality in chip manufacturing companies, explained Ford 8D method should be widely used in such enterprises as product quality improvement tools. Only chip manufacturing companies can quickly respond to all emergency problems in the production process and can ensure each product is high quality, it will be possible to seize the chip market of growingly inflated demands in the future, so that they will win advantages for the enterprise's own survival and development.
