Analysis Of Farming Households' Sustainable Livelihoods On The Poyang Lake Region Yongxiu County In Jiangxi Province

Poyang Lake region is located in the the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze river,which are belonging to Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone Lakefront. It is an important grain, cotton, oil, aquatic production base of Jiangxi province and even the whole country. The frequent floods and droughts seriously restricting the sustainable development of the regional agriculture and farming households livelihoods which has become the main reason for the poverty of farming households here.Therefore, the ability to expand farmers' livelihood strategies to improve sustainable livelihoods of farmers is very important.Taking lakes farmers floods and droughts vulnerability analysis as the background, through the Poyang Lake region 754 household survey, Using DFID sustainable livelihoods analysis framework, combined with the feature of regional characteristics in Poyang lake region and farmers, selected the 18 evaluation index of sustainable livelihoods, with analytic hierarchy process(ahp) to determine the weight of each index,Establish a comprehensive evaluation model, Build sustainable livelihoods fuzzy evaluation model, and then discusses the The level of sustainable livelihood. The farmers divided into four types which were farming households,mainly farming households, mainly off farming households,off farming households.To analyze the differences in the levels of different types of farmers its sustainable livelihoods.Combined with the analysis of livelihood strategies, the use of multi classification logistic regression analysis method, analysis of the relationship between the five major livelihood capital and livelihood strategies.The results show that:(1) In 754 farming households, the Sustainable livelihoods composite index between 0 to 0.2, accounting for 8.09%, Accounting for 51.86% of all surveyed households between 0.2 to 0.4,Sustainable livelihoods composite index between 0.4to 0.6 was 37.00%, Higher than 0.6, accounts for only 3.05% of all households surveyed. In general, The low level of farming households sustainable livelihoods of Poyang lake region(2) Through investigation and analysis, there are 209 natural disasters often subjected to threats, which suffered flooding 181 households, accounting for 86.6% of(3) The affected farmers recurrent droughts 22, accounting for 10.53% recurrent affected farmers, as well as other minority farmers threatened wildlife and the natural disaster, accounting for only 2.87% recurring affected farmers.(4) Different types of farmers' livelihood capital index is slightly different,representing different types of farmers sustainable livelihoods level differences. Four different types of farmers household livelihood capital in the total index size followed by mainly off farming households > off farming households > farming households >mainly farming households.(5) Farmer livelihoods in capital constituted a direct impact on farmers' livelihood strategy choice.With rich natural capital and material capital, farmers are more willing to choose agricultural production as a livelihood strategy, but the natural capital and the material capital have no significant influence on the to the mainly farming livelihood strategy and mainly off farming livelihood strategy, which is more dependent on financial capital and human capital.(6) In order to improve the livelihoods offarming households, promote the development of non-agricultural livelihoods, agricultural livelihoods strategy of specialization and improve the social security system and mechanism.
