| Agricultural production conditions of Poyang Lake region are excellent.It is an important grain,cotton,oil,aquatic production base of Jiangxi province and even the whole country.The frequent floods and droughts seriously restricting the sustainable development of the regional agriculture and farming households livelihoods which has become the main reason for the poverty of farming households here.Enhancing the ability to resist disaster risk and improving the sustainability of livelihoods is an effective way for farmers in the lake to cope with natural disasters and achieve prosperity.This paper takes Yongxiu County,Jiangxi Province,as an example to collect 742 household surveys and obtain the farmer's production and living conditions data,Based on DFID sustainable livelihoods analysis framework and the feature of regional characteristics in Poyang lake region and farmers,establish the evaluation index system of livelihood capital,on this basis,this paper quantitatively describes the livelihood capital and livelihood strategies of farmers in Yongxiu County.with analytic hierarchy process and entropy method to determine the weight of each index,build a sustainable livelihoods comprehensive evaluation model,and then discusses the The level of sustainable livelihood.This paper introduces family composition and on this basis,to analyzes the differences in the levels of different types of farmers its sustainable livelihoods and explore the impact of family composition and livelihood capital on livelihood strategies.The research shows that:(1)Farmers have a high vulnerability in Yongxiu County,on the one hand,their agricultural production conditions are poor on the whole;on the other hand,Yongxiu County floods and droughts occur frequently,the affected population is large,the affected area is wide and the economic loss is large.Serious disaster areas are concentrated in the middle and eastern plains in Yongxiu County.(2)In 742(valid questionnaire)farming households,the sustainable livelihoods composite index between 0.3 to 0.5,accounting for 55.12%,accounting for 36.93%of all surveyed households between 0.1 to 0.3,higher than 0.5,accounts for 6.87% of all households surveyed,sustainable livelihoods composite index under 0.1 accountsfor only 37.00%.In general,the low level of farming households sustainable livelihoods of Poyang lake region.(3)Different types of farmers' livelihood capital index is low and their internal gap is large,the H3 farmers are at the highest level which is 0.36,the H5 farmers are at the lowest level which is 0.16,the five different family structure type of farmers household livelihood capital in the total index size followed by H3> H2> H4> H1>H5.(4)The largest source of the vast majority of farmers household income are obtained by migrating,the proportion from high to low followed by H4 > H3 > H2 >H1,the proportion of agricultural income from high to low followed by H1 > H5 >H2 > H3 > H4,the proportion of the incomes from doing business in order to H5 >H4 > H3 > H2 > H1,H5 type of farmers household have highest proportion of transfer income and policy income.(5)According to the multiple regression analysis of family composition and household income sources,H2,H3 and H4 family composition have significant positive effect on household income,however,H1 and H5 have significant negative effects on household income;H1,H2 H3 and H4 had significant positive effects on agricultural income.The H3 and H4 family composition had significant positive effects on migrant workers' income.The H1 and H5 family composition had significant negative impact on business income.(6)In order to improve the livelihoods of farming households,the government should expand the livelihood strategies of farmers,promote the scale and specialization of agricultural production,strengthen the skills training,carry out local non-agricultural activities,and improve the social security system and so on. |
