Inventory management is an important segment during the operation activities of modern enterprises. If the inventory level is too high, it will influence the cash flow, increase storage cost and cover up the problems in the operation management. If the inventory level is too low, it will reduce customer service level, increase material purchasing cost, create potential risk of material shortage and influence the balance and continuity of production. Therefore, the biggest task of inventory management is how to reduce inventory level on the premise of fulfilling the requirement of production and customers, improve the efficiency of logistics system and increase the market competition of enterprises.Anvis is a foreign-funded company which specializes in the production of automotive rubber anti-vibration system, the company is in the period of growing business. But there are some problems in supply chain and inventory management, which influence the improvement and profits. So inventory management improvement is the main responsibility of supply chain and logistics management departments. This thesis deeply analyzes current situation of inventory management in Anvis first, and then expounds the inventory management theories in traditional way and supply chain environment. Based on these theories, this thesis points out the main problems of inventory management in Anvis, including not timely response to customer demand fluctuation, high inventory cost and low inventory turnover rate, frequent happening of material shortage, serious unconsistency of accounts and physical goods in the warehouse etc. Then this thesis deeply analyzes the reasons of these problems, including selfish departmentalism of inventory management organization, lack of material classification management, lack of inventory cost controlling concept, lack of lean inventory management method, confused warehouse site management and not strict control of material receiving and shipping etc.Based on the problem analysis, the thesis proposes the improvement strategies of inventory management, such as building virtual supply chain inventory management information coordination mechanism with the basic structure of previous production management system, implementing materials ABC classification management according to the characteristics of products, building optimized material purchasing and production volume controlling strategy, improving inventory management method in different phases, improving warehouse site management and material receiving and shipping etc. The company gains obvious achievements in inventory management field by the improvement of organization structure, inventory control strategy and inventory operation method. The inventory cost has been reduced a lot. The inventory turnover rate, product delivery on-time rate and material accounting accuracy rate have been increased. The warehouse management level has been improved and the enterprise market competition ability has been enhanced. Finally, the thesis sums up this study, lists some shortcomings and gives a prospect of further study.The improvement strategies of inventory management presented by this thesis have achieved positive performance in Anvis operation, which also has reference value for the same type of enterprises.
