Along with the rapid development of economy and science technology in the 21st century, logistics industry has gone through dramatic changes, especially the domestic logistics industry has gradually transformed from traditional logistics to modern logistics. The main-routes logistics is a new form developed in the process of transformation, which breaks away from the special-route transportation and the main-routes transportation. However, the change of economic environment in recent years, the aggravation of the market competition and the intensification of price war make it more difficult for the main-routes logistics enterprises to survive. It is a general tendency for the main-routes logistics enterprises to improve the operational efficiency, reduce operating costs and implement process re-engineering. The Internet of things is the third revolution in information industry following the computer, the Internet and its application in the logistics industry has its unique advantages. Based on these, this paper puts forward the idea of introducing the technology of Internet of things in the process re-engineering of the main-routes logistics based on the current situation of the main-routes logistics and the related technologies of the Internet of things.The author firstly has a general review of the relevant concepts such as the Internet of Things technology and the process re-engineering, and defines the main-routes logistics based on the existing theories about the main-routes transportation. After the introduction of the current situation of the businesses and the business scopes of the main-routes logistics of the Xiao Bang Logistics, the author extracts its five main representative businesses, including warehousing, main-routes transportation, delivery, receipt and exception handling. Then the author conducts detailed analysis on the five main processes of the main-route logistics, points out the problems and deficiencies in the process of the existing businesses and draws corresponding flow charts of the business. After that, the author proposes the idea of process re-engineering based on the Internet of Things technology, draws the five flow charts after process re-engineering and conducts contrastive analysis on the processes after re-engineering and the original processes. Then, the author analyzes the organizations of the enterprises and the corresponding changes in functions after process re-engineering and constructs evaluation systems for the re-engineering of the five main processes to estimate the effects of process re-engineering. Besides, five main strategies to ensure the smooth implementation of the process re-engineering are also proposed. Finally, the author concludes the whole thesis and gives directions for future research based on the limitations of the thesis.
