Research On The Renovation Of Industrial Heritage Along The North Jiangsu Canal Under The Concept Of Industrial Heritage Corridor

This thesis is a part of "the Grande Canal 2050".One of the main purposes of this research is to analysis and study on the industrial heritages along the North Jiangsu Section of the Grande Canal,based on the waterway as a connecting link.Put forward renovation strategies of the old industrial buildings along the North Jiangsu Section of the Grande Canal with the geographical characteristics.The Grande Canal Industrial Heritage Corridor is a special type,in which the industrial buildings,constructions and related environments are the core resources,sorting out the ones that are up to the industrial heritage protection standard,making up a linear industrial and cultural landscape area with a common history theme by the Grande Canal.It connects the natural resources,industrial resources and tourist resources all together,to achieve the protection and development of the whole region,and create a social,cultural and economic effect.The Grande Canal has been an important waterway of communications since the age of agricultural civilization.It prospered the local economy and bred the regional culture.It has also played a significant role in the industrial development process of China since the beginning of the Modern China.Particularly the North Jiangsu Section,which began to develop in mining,electricity,agricultural product processing since the "Westernization Movement" in 1860s,was one of the birthplaces of the national industries.There are many historical industrial relics left along the canal,which are full of humanities and sensibilities.They not only rich the canal landscapes,but also provide a new heritage type in the industrial aspect for the Grande Canal Heritage Corridor construction.As plenty of large industrial enterprises are built along the highway nowadays,it's easy to figure out that logistics has always been playing a crucial role in industrial production.Before the developing of road system in China,the canal system was leading in domestic transportation.Therefore,plenty of factories are distributed on both sides of the canal,with great historic significances and geographical characteristics,which are also the special memories of the cities along the canal.
