Objective To evaluate the clinical efficiency of TURP with bilateral orchiectomy for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer with urinary tract obstruction. Methods From Jan.2013 to Jan.2016,10 advanced prostate cancer patients with retention, with urinary tract obstruction as initial symptom, aged 82-87 years old, treated by TURP with bilateral orchiectomy in Heze Municipal Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Results The average operation time was 50 min and the mean intraoperative bleeding volume was 80 ml.All patients were treated with oral anti-androgen drugs postoperatively and followed up for 3 months to 3 years. The follow-up included subjective symptoms and PSA.After the operation, the symptoms were relieved. After treatment, the PSA was reviewed every three months. The PSA value of all patients was decreased after 3 months. There was no death case after operation. Conclusion TURP combined with bilateral orchiectomy is one of the safe and effective methods for the patients with advanced prostate cancer who have poor general condition and urinary tract obstruction.Furthermore, this method has many advantages, such as low costs, less intraoperative bleeding, minimal invasion, which can become widely available in primary hospital.
