Its semantic function to express measurement can hardly be replaced by the "Ba" and "Bei" sentence, and its function to express cause cannot be replaced by the topic and SVO sentence. Although the change of the verb copying clause to ralated sentences is affected by different discourse factors, all the convertion can hardly succeed in the context in which VPi becomes the theme. So describing an event in an comprehensive way and making it as the topic of a discourse can be regarded as the unique function of the verb copying clause.
