Shyness means he who feels uneasy and embarrassed for some reasons during dealing with others, has many constraints in his own language and action so that he can not express his own thoughts and feelings. Shyness leads to the normal development of the interpersonal relations hindered. In face of pressure the individual stimulates the event to give a special meaning through a certain assessment process and realizes the final assessment of the stimulus causing the pressure on his own. And metal health makes the balance between their own inner world and the objective environment and makes the balance of a good interpersonal relationship. As an important psychological factors shyness and stress perception whether affects the junior high school students' mental health level is the focus of this study.Physiology and psychology has great changes during adolescence and students are in the extreme instable period. Especial for junior high students, their physiological mature develops slowly and self consciousness develop rapidly so that they pay more attention to themselves and give their own understandings to the events and changes around. All the changes make junior high school students become more sensitive and shy and cause some problems of adaption, development and interpersonal relationship which affect mental health of junior high school students. Adolescence is a period for students facing the heavy pressure of life. Changes in physiology and psychology, academic pressure and interpersonal relationship affect the mental health of junior high school students. For the shy junior high school students personality may cause some psychological problems. In addition, shy individuals are more sensitive. When they face the same external pressure their personality characteristics may affect the perception of pressure and further affect their mental health. Therefore this study would like to further explore the relationship between shyness, stress and mental health of junior high school students in order to provide some basis for the mental health education and intervention of students especially for the shy junior high school students.The research object of this study was 608 junior high school students from Weifang city. Through the research of the Shyness Scale, the perceived stressed scale and the mental health diagnosis test, the study aimed to explore the shyness, perceived stress and psychological health of junior middle school students and further explore the relationship between shyness, perceived stress and mental health of students. Results found:1. Junior middle school students' mental health in the middle level and serious problem detection rate was low. But born self accusation tendency and allergic tendency and learning anxiety detection rate was high. Learning anxiety was the highest(42.1%) and it was the primary problem of mental health for middle school students.2. There were significant gender differences in the mental health score and dimensions(except lonely tendency). The mental health level of boys was significantly higher than girls. There were differences between urban and rural areas in the lonely tendency and impulsive tendency of psychological health. In these tow areas the rural students was lower than students in city, and there was no differences between other dimensions. There was a significant difference in the one-child in mental health score, learning anxiety, self accusation tendency and physical symptoms. Other dimensions difference was not significant.3. High and low-level shyness of students in perceived stress and mental health score had significant difference. High-level was higher than the low-level.4. There was a significant positive correlation between shyness, stress perception and mental health of junior middle school students. Shyness and the perceived stress of junior high school students also showed a significant positive correlation.5. Perceived stress played a partial mediating role between shyness and mental health of junior middle school students.
