This thesis, exemplified by some typical Chinese run-on sentences from Premier's press conference of NPC and CPPCC from 2015 to 2019,mainly discusses the C-E diplomatic interpretation in terms of features, problems, challenges, strategies and suggestions.First,in light of the literature review and sample analysis, the major problems or challenges in interpreting run-on sentences can be concluded as follows: first, large amounts of information are included in run-on sentences, which are not easy to be expressed in English completely and correctly.Second,it is difficult to classify the logical connections between clauses of a run-on sentence.Third,no distinction is made between the major and the minor parts of the information because of the paralleling structure of run-on sentences.Second, according to the analysis on the C-E interpretation of some typical run-on sentences, the author summarizes five strategies or suggestions on interpreting run-on sentences.First, the principle of adopting the “Three Steps”,which is conducive to dividing the semantic connections of all clauses into attitude, explanation and goal.Second, restructuring information, which refers to dividing sense groups of original text so as to make the information expressed fluently.Third, adding the linking words or phrases between clauses ensures that the semantic connections are clear and coherent.Fourth, defining the subject of clauses makes sure that each English sentence presents the complete information and strict structures.Fifth, applying “deverbalization and explanation” benefits the conveyance of the major information without any mark of original language structure. Finally, based on the theories concerning Cohesion in English and Skopos Theory, the author conducts the case study of the interpretation samples, hoping that these strategies or suggestions contribute to improving the accuracy and flexibility of interpreting Chinese run-on sentences.
