In the eyes of ordinary people,Foolishness for Christ refers to those people who have mental problems,namely madman or simpleton,whereas in the eyes of religious people,Foolishness for Christ means those who achieve success by acting like fools.I n the history of Christian Church,Foolishness for Christ first appeared in Egypt in the4 th century as a model of the divine and then rushed into the Byzantine Empire.It wa s not until in the 14 th century that it disappeared in the Byzantine Empire and became an unique phenomenon in Russia.Foolishness for Christ is viewed as a manifestation of the national psychology and special behavior pattern of Russia.It represents the irrational side of Russian nature.As a character or a genre of character,Foolishness for Christ becomes especially prominent in Russian literature in 19 th century.Especially in Dostoevsky's art text,the figure of Foolishness for Christ occupies an important position.This paper takes Idiot which is written by Dostoevsky as an example to make a deep analysis of the figure of Foolishness for Christ.The paper consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.In introduction,this paper sketches out the concept,origin and development of Foolishness for Christ and an explanation of the research significance and methods.The main body of this research is divided into four chapters.Chapter one reviews the previous studies on the foolishness for Christ,which are of great help in determining the research direction of this paper.Chapter two analyzes the prototype of Foolishness for Christ in religious literatu re and the types of figures of Foolishness for Christ of Russian literature in 19 th..In chapter three this paper sketches out the relationship between Dostoevsky and Foolishness for Christ from the perspectives of life experience,religious view an d the types of figures of Foolishness for Christ in his work in the framework of Russia n literature in 19 th..In the last chapter,this research analyzes the Foolishness for Christ features of M yshkin in Idiot and his binary opposition with others to get a deep understanding of Fo olishness for Christ and the poetics character of Dostoevsky's work.The last part of the research is conclusion,in which the research summarizes the significant points and value of this research are summarized.
