Historical poetry,along with landscape poetry,frontier poetry and object-chanting poetry establishes the system of poetry form and plays an important role in Chinese classical poetry.In Song Dynasty,monk poets were more active than ever before and their poems were flourishing.Influenced by various of factors,monks began to seek images from outside the religion.In the same time,a mass of object-chanting poetry and philosophical poetry were presented in monks' poems and historical poetry was also brought in to the monks' poetry.Affected by the cultural and political policy in Song Dynasty and the internal change in Buddhism,monks started to concern the field of Confucian scholar.By using the skill called Overturn.historical poetry of Song Dynasty integrated personal consciousness to the description of historical events,which made the poems beautiful and meaningful and branded with personal tint.Compared with historical poetry that only expressed the feeling of sighing and praising,historical poetry in Song Dynasty were added with poets' personal emotion,which had become a unique style of historical poetry in Song Dynasty.For the monks,they were deeply affected with cultural environment of Song Dynasty and simultaneously their religious nature made them to create the historical poetry in a different point of view.
