Dazhu is a small city in Sichuan province, belonging to Dazhou. The Dazhu dialect belongs to Southwest Mandarin, and it is a part of Chengdu-Chongqing. According to the materials which are collected, the study of Dazhu dialect is relatively small, scattered and incomplete.This paper takes the phonetics and phonology of Dazhu dialect as the main research subject. It attempts to offer the objective and synthetical description of Dazhu phonetics and sum up the fundamental form of its development via the traditional description and comparison. In addition, this article also studies some common phenomena, such as tone sandhi, retroflex suffixation,and suffix zi to find out the rule of development.The paper is divided into seven parts:Preface:It introduces the history, location, population, the language, and illustrates the phonetics symbols of Dazhu dialect and so on.Chapter 1:The phonetic system of Dazhu dialect. It contains four parts:the intial, the final, the tone and the composition table of the phonetic.Chapter 2:A collection of homophones in Dazhu dialect.Chapter 3:The phonetic comparison between Dazhu dialect and Medieval pronunciation. It depicts the differences to find out the relationship.Chapter 4:The phonetic comparison between Dazhu dialect and Standard Chinese.It contains the intial,the final and the tone.Chapter 5:This chapter introduces the tone sandhi, retroflex suffixation, suffix zi of Dazhu dialect.Conclusion:This paper sums up the phonetic system of Dazhu dialect,including the intial system,the final system,the tone system,and some common phonetic phenomena.
