In 1927,Nanjing national government unified the whole nation in form. Virtually, many provinces under the rule of national government were still in a state of separatist warlord regimes. Meanwhile, Chinese Communist Party challenged its authority in various areas. The ambition of Japanese aggression of China became more and more clear under such conditions. In order to get rid of the situation of internal and external troubles, There was no delay to strength army and the modernization of national defense. Nanjing government set its eyes on remote continent of Europe Germany as they have well-trained army and excellent equipment. By employing Germany army to take up the post of military counselor in China, it aimed to get assistance in military and economy, and then to promote its development of military modernization. At the same time, Weimar government and Nazi government in German both devoted to getting rid of the restraint of Treaty of Versaille. It was evident that China, as a huge area for munitions selling and materials producing, attracts German greatly. Under such background, China and German developed a military cooperation lasting for ten years. This article discusses the process from establishing military cooperation to break between China and German in these ten years, and probes into the influence of their military cooperation on Chinese military modernization. It affirms the German counselor's effort in military equipment, military thoughts, and strategy and tactics, which contributes greatly to the ultimate victory of anti-Japanese War. The military cooperation of German and China has a significant influence on Chinese military modernization.
