Food documentaries are an important way to carry forward Chinese culture,so the interpreting of food documentaries has significant impact on cultural communication.I translated the second and the third episode of A Bite of China and found three difficulties,including vocabulary,dialect and rhetorical devices.Taking into consideration of linguistic characteristics of English and Chinese and thinking habits,I put forward four techniques to solve these difficulties.According to my research,consecutive interpreting techniques of food documentaries include literal translation with annotation,free translation,supplementation and omission and combination.Mastering these techniques,interpreters can deal with this kind of materials easily and help foreigners to learn traditional Chinese culture.In fact,interpreters have to translate traditional Chinese food on many occasions.Therefore,this practice provides references and is beneficial to cultural communication.
