| The source text examines Chapter Three and Four of Meaning in Language: An Introduction to Semantics and Pragmatics.This book is organized by the author's abundant and comprehensive notes from his teaching career,which is the precious resource for this semantics research and is already listed in our country's Library of Contemporary Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.Owing to its high specialty,the author has encountered some difficulties in translation,such as how to take context into consideration when dealing with words,how to find the essential meaning metaphor,how to translate the adverbs ending with-ly in a natural and precise way,and how to punctuate sentences and adjust component to make the translation more authentic,etc.In resolving these problems,the author has consulted reference books and parallel texts and remitted to teacher and classmates.After finding the feature and resolution of these difficulties,the author explains it clearly with some typical cases,hoping it will be useful in translating the material of the same kind. |
