This report is based on the translation of the book Hack College Like An Entrepreneur by Antonia Liu into Chinese.The theme of the book is about how high school students and college students can grow into excellent entrepreneurs.The book extracts 40 ideas and practices worth learning from the founders of the world's top enterprises,aiming at improving the innovative and entrepreneurial abilities of young students and creating outstanding entrepreneurs for the society.The publication of Hack College Like An Entrepreneur comes at the right time to meet the needs of the era of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation".The author believes that translating it into Chinese is of great significance to individual entrepreneurship,to solving the employment problems in the country's deepening reform and development,and to encouraging the whole society to " roll up its sleeves and work harder".Compared with other adverbs,adverbs ending with-ly are more active in English and have many features such as frequent use,rich meaning and changeable position.When translating,it is always difficult for the translator to make the translation natural and smooth and achieve the desired results.Therefore,it is a great challenge for translators to translate adverbs ending with-ly accurately and properly.Nida's functional equivalence theory highlights equivalence in meaning before considering style.When translating such inspirational books,the aim is to accurately convey the meaning of the original text.Based on Nida's functional equivalence theory,this paper makes a case study on the classification and characteristics of adverbs to study the Chinese translation methods of adverbs.By analyzing position changes of adverbs ending with-ly in the text,the translation methods suitable for adverbs ending with-ly are discussed.There are four translation methods of adverbs ending with-ly,including retaining part of speech and word order,retaining part of speech and changing word order,retaining word order and changing part of speech,and changing word order and part of speech.Theuse of these methods can accurately transmit the content information of such inspirational texts,and it can also provide reference for similar translation practice.This translation practice report consists of five chapters.The first chapter “introduction” briefly introduces the translation task and its significance.The second chapter “translation process” describes the author's three stages of preparation before translation,translation process and revision after translation.The third chapter is the introduction of translation theory,mainly introducing Nida's functional equivalence theory briefly.At the same time,the definition,classification and characteristics of adverbs are discussed and studied through specific case analysis.The fourth chapter is a case study,As the core part of this report.It lists the key and difficult problems encountered in the process of translation,analyzes the translation skills and methods used in solving the problems through the case study and provides four translation strategies of adverbs ending with-ly,including retaining part of speech and word order,retaining part of speech and changing word order,retaining word order and changing part of speech,and changing word order and part of speech.The fifth chapter is a practical summary,which mainly summarizes the translation skills and strategies learned in this translation practice.At the same time,it also points out the shortcomings in translation and the direction of future efforts.
