The Linguistic Thesis "Western "Language Economic Principles" Theory And Chinese Studies" English Translation Practice Report

With the frequency of international exchanges,academic exchanges have been enhanced in the process.However,the promotion and publicity of Chinese academic research leaves for much to be desired in the process of global exchanges,because much of Chinese academic research do not have English versions,which hinders the academic exchange between China and other countries.Therefore,it is crucial to deepen the studies on academic translation.This report is based on the translation of the linguistic paper Research on the Economy Principle in Chinese Language,which introduced the economy principle into the studies on Chinese language phenomena.During the process of translating,the translator found following text features: large amount of linguistic terms and Chinese specific terms,lots of ancient Chinese words and sentences and so on.Based on the text features and discourse translation,the translator solved the problems such as vocabulary,the translation of ancient Chinese language,cohesion and coherence,and summed up cohesion methods and translation methods to solve the difficulties met.This project aims at systematically analyzing problems that arose in the process of translation,providing reference and help for the translation of the text of the same type and fostering academic exchanges at home and abroad.
