The Enlightenment Of Music Education In Modern Christian Schools In Shanghai On Contemporary Music Teaching

Shanghai has been established about 50 Church School by Western people in the concession area since the opening of the city in 1843.The establishment of these church schools which established by Chinese Governmentwere different with the school in the teaching system,teaching philosophy,teaching purposes especially in the field of music education.Such as Xuhui Church School,Santa Maria Girls School,McTyeire School they create a model of western education system in music for modern music education in China.They firstly getmusic as a formal curriculum,inherited the western aesthetic mind in education,enlightened the modern music education in China.In recent years,domestic scholars began to study in church education system.With more in-depth comprehensive Research done by Professor Gong Hongyu,Dr.Chen Jing and other scholars in this area,they achieved fruitful results,therefore,people acknowledge more in the development of church music education.China's music education system learned from the West.In recent years,the study of church schools has gradually increased,and scholars try to redefine the beginning of Chinese music educationas the start of the Church Schools which debated most of the scholars concerned.However,because of differences in the form,content and other aspects of the music curriculum whether the establishment of church school was the beginning of Chinese music education remains to be verified.Generally,music education in Church Schools has inspired themodern music education in China.As a Music Educators in 21 Century,we may learn a lot from Church Schools in teaching philosophy,teaching methods,teaching methods.This article will be described from the perspective of a modern music.The timeline wouldset from the 1850,the first batch of church schools to Chinese government recover the right to host the establishment of public schools in 1952.The paper summaries the influences of several mainstream church schools in Shanghai and study the problems still existing in modern music education today.Trying to sort out and demonstrate the enlightenment of the music curriculum from western church.
