Observations On The Preservation Movement In Taiwan's Villages

In 1949,Kuomintang were defeated and went to Taiwan,about 1.2 million people became war migrants and political migrants.The place where they live is called the military dependents' village.Nearly 70 years later,most of the military dependents' village have been demolished.The fortunately preserved part are relics of history and cultural heritage,as well as an emotional connection and dialogue platform between mainland and Taiwan.This paper intends to show the present situation of military dependents' village,of which the historical significance,cultural significance and political significance should be understand by talking with residents,cultural workers and politicians.
