The Study Of The Dayun Temple In Dunhuang During The Tang And Five Dynasties

Dunhuang Dayun Temple is one of the famous Buddhist temple in the Tang and the Five Dynasties,and early Song Dynasty in the Dunhuang area,and was recorded as "Yun" or “Da Yun" in Dunhuang literature.Wu Zhou Dynasty and other monks wrote “Da Yun" four volumes,said Wu Zetian is Maitreya Buddha born,so Wu Zetian ascended the throne behind the Chang'an and Luoyang and the state set up a large temple.The main purpose is to set up the cloud temple through Dayun temple to preach to the “Dayun Scripture ",make public opinion for the emperor Wu Zetian and Wu Zhou political legitimacy.The Buddhist monks group in the Dayun Temple is very active in the Dunhuang area and participates extensively in all aspects of Dunhuang society.Monks Kang Zhiquan and Fan Fugao are outstanding representatives of Dayun Temple,who have outstanding talents in both religious and political terms.The monks of Dayun Temple are very active in religious activities such as the Tripitaka,the study,the classics,the law and the ordination,and contributed to the development of Buddhism in Dunhuang.In the secular activities,the monks of Dunhuang Dayun Temple are also actively involved.Organization of temple activities,to strengthen the contact with the secular society;also actively develop the economy,and achieved great returns;and good relations with the secular regime.All of this has laid a good foundation for the further development of Dunhuang Dayun Temple.
