Since the opening of Shanghai in 1843,under the influences of Western culture,Shanghai has undergone enormous changes,and entered a golden period of rapid development of the city in the 1920 s to 1930 s.Shanghai is well known as the center of the world for its industrial,trading and financial centers.At the same time,Shanghai,as a famous entertainment center,has won the reputation of “Paris of the East” for its developed entertainment industry.In the rich and varied entertainment life,dance industry occupies the “king” status and has an important influence on the Republic of Shanghai people's daily life.Correspondingly,this new group of dancers with the rapid development of dance industry is booming.Dance halls,as an interpersonal place,gather all kind of people here,its appearance is complex and diverse,and is very suitable for entering a variety of contexts to complete the different urban imagination.The core group of dance halls——dancing girls,they are living in an era of the old and new ideas,and they not only represent traditional women's side,but also possess the characteristics of the new era of women.This paper selects the representative works of the Shanghai school writers on dance halls and dancing girls,and focuses on the creation of New feeling writers,Shanghai aestheticism writers and Popular writer of Shanghai school.What's more,this paper investigates their creations are how to inspect from two aspects of ambiguity of dance halls which is a urban space and versatility of dancing girls,and depicts a three-dimensional urban landscape picture,shows the writer's imagination and aesthetic experience of the city.At the same time,this paper contacts the Left-wing writers of depicting the Shanghai metropolis during the same period,and compares two types of writer's urban creations.The paper is composed of introduction,body and conclusion.The body is divided into four chapters.The first chapter focuses on the relationship among dance halls,dancing girls and modern city life.In the modern city life,dance halls and dancing girls form a unique visual landscape,this chapter introduces the development history of dance halls and dancing girls in the urban society with Shanghai as the center,and shows the view and aesthetic experience of dance halls and dancing girls.The second chapter mainly elaborates the picture of dance halls in the Shanghai school literature.On the basis of grasping the city literature's discourse on dance halls and its internal activities,the thesis selects the representative works of the Shanghai School writers,analyzes dance halls which is an urban space from the text.The third chapter mainly elaborates dancing girl's image and its cultural implication in the Shanghai school literature,and starts from the traditional females,the modern urban girls and the girls which are male's desire.It presents the narration of dancing girl's image in Shanghai school literature,and on this basis,it elaborates complex cultural implications of dancing girl's image.The center of the fourth chapter is the urban experience and narrative of the Shanghai school writers.Around the two objects of dance halls and dancing girls,this paper discusses the urban narrative of the Shanghai school writers and the left-wing writers,and presents the modern intellectual's complex attitude towards the city.
