Lan Ting gathering was a literati's aesthetic activity in the Eastern Jin Dynasty,which was a typical example of Chinese classical aesthetics in metaphysics period.Most of the researches' angles about Lan Ting gathering before were calligraphy,history and poetry,few researches study Lan Ting gathering in aesthetic aspect.This lead the study about Lan Ting gathering is not sufficient.According to this condition,this paper mainly study from the angle of aesthetic.On the part of aesthetic thoughts,Lan Ting gathering influenced by Confucianism and Taoism at the same time.These influences revealed in Lan Ting poems and Lan Ting prefaces clearly,that make Lan Ting ramble's characters have two origins,one is Wu Yu ramble of Confucianism and the other is carefree ramble of Taoism.Wu Yu ramble shows final direction after the Confucianism succeed in political,it means a spiritual state of people that when you do something you will follow your heat but not overstepping the line;carefree ramble shows heart freely after the Taoism attained the state of“zuo wang”,it means a spiritual satisfaction when abandon material desires.These two thoughts consists the transcendent spiritual of Lan Ting poets.On the part of aesthetic psychology,there is a sentiment changing clue which from existed to laid aside finally appeared again in Lan Ting gathering.There is a sentiment changing clue in Lan Ting gathering,the changing is sentiment from existed to laid aside finally appeared again.Lan Ting gathering formed during the Eastern Jin Dynasty when all the society covered by sad sentiment which made up the hopeless of Lan Ting poets.In the gathering,poets through sight-seeing and metaphysical thinking to laid their annoyances aside,this resulted in Lan Ting gathering have two theme——laid annoyances aside and aesthetic activity.If laid annoyances aside regards as an aesthetic mind,it is the beginning stage of aesthetic activity.At the end of the gathering,sad sentiment appeared again with the aesthetic pleasure decreasing,but Wang Xi zhi did not fallen into despair entirely,meanwhile He put forward“xing huai”in his literature to keep aesthetic pleasure they got in Lan Ting gathering,and reserve it for re-aesthetic hereafter.On the part of aesthetic substance,the major aesthetic object of Lan Ting gathering is nature.Different from the time before Wei-Jin Dynasty when nature was treated as instrumentality for other goals,after Wei-Jin,nature began to appeared as aesthetic object,more than instrumental value.Natural aesthetics of Lan Ting gathering contained in Lan Ting poems and Lan Ting prefaces,in the view of rhetoric style,the productions of Lan Ting gathering shows a new method Fu to describe nature beyond traditional method——Bi and Xing,so,Lan Ting literature's style is simple and elegant.Natural aesthetics of Lan Ting gathering is not only about form,but also about the idea of nature,that is metaphysics,nature is form,metaphysics is core,they are closely related.Even so,the sentense about scenery and metaphysics are always isolated in Lan Ting poems.The thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in Lan Ting garthering exactly reflect Chinese classical aesthetic.Laiding annoyances aside in Lan Ting garthering is the inherit and practice of Lao zi and zhuang zi's thoughts about "xu jing" and "xin zhai".The appearance of nature aesthetic made the content of Chinese classical aesthetic plentiful.Lan Ting gathering have significant value in aesthetic research,and have great meaning for classical Chinese aesthetic.
