For a long time, under the guidance of the college entrance examination, high schools attach great importance to their university admission rates, ignoring the development of students' ability of career planning, not to mention the lack of career planning in school curriculums. The above situation leads to students' being unaware of their personal interest, characters, abilities as well as social needs, thus they cannot effectively plan their studies. The students don't know well of his learning aims and lack motivation. This thesis is based on an intervention study on the performance of 366 high school students in career education based on courses and competition tutoring. The thesis tends to show whether high school career education has a significant influence on several aspects of students' learning motivation, and then elucidate the mechanism of action and internal principle.During the research,a sample survey was conducted on students in Grade 1 of Furen High School by employing cluster sampling technique. The students were divided into two group—four classes as the experimental group, and four classes as the control group.Once a week for the whole semester, the experimental group had a class on career planning and occupational experiences.Besides they also had a career planning competition at the end of the semester. However, the control group had none of the courses or activities mentioned above. Before and after the experiment,a learning motivation diagnostic test was carried out in both groups, the results of which indicates that the career education based on courses and competition tutoring does have a positive effect on students' learning motivation.
