Patrick Modiano, one of the most important contemporary writers in France and praised as one of the three leaders of literary of French with Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio and Georges Perec, was awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature in October 2014.Since the first translation version of Johnny and La Seine came into China in 1983,translation works of Modiano's master pieces has been undergoing for more than 30 years. Translations take place in a certain social circumstance. In the analysis of translations, social factors can't be neglected. Based on this knowing, this thesis choose Modiano's translations in China as an object,with the help of Bourdieu's social field theory and works of translation studies, we review the translations and publications of the writer in China, the role of and the author, the translator and the publisher in the translations and the influence of the Nobel Prize of Literature on the translation and the communication.In this thesis, we introduce the three levels of literary translation, which refer to philosophy, linguistics,logic, aesthetics, history, culturology and psychology, etc.Then we analyse the interaction between the translators, the publishers and the author in the field of translation of Modiano in China by the field theory of Bourdieu's . At last, we also mention the impact of the Nobel Prize on the communication of Modiano in China.In the first chapter, we introduce the theory of Bourdieu, and we conclude and summarize the process of the translation of Modiano in China for over thirty years,we divide the translation of Modiano in China into four stages.In the second chapter, we discuss the roles of the author, the translators and the publishers and in the field of translation. Firstly, we analyse the overall characteristics of Modiano's Chinese translators, and introduces the interactions between the translation and the research. Secondly, we sort out the publication of Modiano's translations in China and mention the changes of the publication of his works after the Nobel Prize.In the third chapter, we discuss Modiano's communication in China. We analyse the social factors that affect Modiano's communication.In the conclusion,we figured the roles played by the author,translator,editor in the process of translation, the important influence of Nobel prize in literature for the translation and the communication, and the perspective of the communication of Modiano in China. In the mean time, we put forward the prospect and point out the shortcomings of this thesis,and we use the Modiano's translation and communication in China as a new vision of Modiano's studies and also an inspiration of the communication of french literature in China.
