Leipian is a dictionary that extremely rich in gathering Chinese character pattern,character pronunciation and character meaning in Song dynasty.lt has important significance in dictionary history and has important research value for providing materials for the studying of Chinese characters, phonology,lexicography and exegesis subject.As the preface of the book says: Leipian gather twenty-one thousand eight hundred and forty-six Chinese characters and thirty-one thousand three hundred and nineteen polyphones. The polyphone materials can be used to reveal the change of sound,has great value for the studying of phonetic evolution.Using the method of statistical technique deal with the polyphone materials ,we can get the following conclusions:First,some polyphone materials in Leipian can reflect the ancient pronunciation differentiation .Such as:the plenty polyphones materials between Tong and Jing reveal these two phonological categories was the same category in the ancient. The polyphone materials between Tong and Zeng tell us characters of Zheng,Deng,and part of Dong were all belong to Zheng in the ancient.Characters of Zhi,De and Wu came from ancient Zhi,reveals the situation of ancient phonological categories' differentiation.The other polyphone materials reflect the situation of sound shift in Song dynasty.For example,the polyphones materials between Zhi and Xie reveal the confluence of phonological categories Zhi,Zhi,Zhi,Wei,Qi,Ji and Fei.Second, the polyphone materials in Leipian can reflect the distribution between different rhyme tail and the distribution in Ru rhyme.Ru rhyme has the closest relationship with Yin rhyme,and has a secondary close relationship with Yang rhyme.The transformation between Yin rhyme and Yang rhyme usually occur between ZhiZhen,GeYuan,ZhiGeng,ZhiZheng.Third,the polyphone materials in Leipian can reflect the distribution between different tones:the relationship between ping,shang and qu is close,the relationship between qu and ru is close.We speculate the close relationship between qu and ru can be used to prove qu come from ancient ru. the polyphone materials in Leipian can also reflect the situation of turbidity shang turn to qu in Song dynasty.According to our investigation, the polyphone materials in Leipian most come from Jiyun,The diferrent part between two books should attributed to the different principle the author has taken and the sound shift in Song dynasty.We can also find the polyphone materials in Leipian can cover the polyphone materials in Guangyun.Further more,searching the polyphone materials in Leipian is more convenient.
