Liangzhu culture is one of the important archaeological cultures at the late Neolithic age. In recent thirty years, as a large number of discovery and excavation of the sites of Liangzhu culture who have rich connotation, researchers also began to focus on the location and the special phenomenon of the sites, and put forward the notion of burial mounds and altars after researchers have been continued to focus on the jades and tombs of Liangzhu culture. The characteristics of the burial mounds are more obvious and simple, so that is easy to be accepted by academic circles. But the conception of the altars is relatively hard to be taken. There are still part of the researchers are doubtful, thinking that is lack sufficient evidence to certify some of the sites are altars. In this condition, this article selects 29 main burial mounds and altars sites of Liangzhu culture to do the preliminary study which are located in areas around Tai Lake. And select 15 sites to do the dominating study as the altars,according to the definition of the altars and the recognition in the academic circles. At the same time, this article will do the simple discuss to the other 14 sites.Adopt the early, mid and late chronological order to do a brief overview to the Liangzhu altars and the burial mounds. Through the analysis of the tombs of the altars and the tombs of the elevated tombs,do a preliminary inquiry into the use of altars and elevated cemeteries. In this paper, the interpretation and research of altars are the main content, and the study of the burial mounds is secondary. The 15 main Liangzhu cultural altars are chosen in this article, and most of the altars are buried in the ruins of Liangzhu, which are closely related to the altars. Taken together, so far, except the Mojiaoshan site, the Fanshan altars, Yaoshan altars and the Huiguanshan altars are the highest level altars in the Liangzhu culture.
