Consecutive interpreting,as an important method of interpretation, requires interpreters to accurately record the information conveyed by speakers and to translate it quickly, accurately and smoothly in a target language within a limited period of time.Due to limited memory capacity, most interpreters turn to notes for help in memorizing all information. Thus, the suggestive role of notes and their impact on the accuracy of translation cannot be ignored. Therefore, exploring strategies for note-taking problems is extremely important for the interpreters who usually engage in the long hours of interpreting. These strategies will not only reduce the working stress of interpreters, but can also greatly enhance the accuracy and fluency of their translations.Firstly, the writer explains the basic theory of consecutive interpreting and note-taking,which establishes the key role of notes in consecutive interpreting,in the hope that translators can be more aware of the importance of notes.Secondly, the writer summarizes the note problems in the simulating practice of consecutive interpreting and analyzes the causes of these problems. Finally, the writer discusses the coping strategies for these note-taking problems in order to further enhance the effectiveness of notes, thus making them serve as better reminders for interpreters in consecutive interpreting.
