Sheng Dashi in Qing dynasty,a native in Yang County,Tai Cang Town,Jiangsu province,styled himself Zi Lu,chose Yi Yun as an assumed name,and nicknamed himself Lan Yishi and La Qishi.He was born in the thirty year of Qian Long in Qing Dynasty(1771),died in the nineteenth year of Guang Dao(1839)and was 69 years old.In the fifth year of Jia Qing(1800),he became a successful candidate in the imperial examinations at the provincial level,and then was an officer teaching in San Yan.Zi Lu is knowledgeable of working at the ancient modern——style poetry and being good at painting.He has written a lot,such as Yun Su Pavilior Texts,Shi Quan,Pu Xue Room Notes,Four histories Interpenetration,Qin Zhu Yue Fu making in Shan Room,etc.In the writings of Sheng Dashi,especially in his painting,Tour Record in Xi Mountain is a book whose words are like peals and concise.When he recorded this book,he took lots of efforts.Although his purpose is not to study,in later generations'views,he has already completed the preliminary research work,which was done with a detailed analysis.The books' contents are divided into four volumes,including the ancient and modern secretary in his life,previous inscription,and the theory of paintings which are composed with comments.The first two volumes,talk more about techniques of drawing while the last two volumes tell the tour of him and his friends at the same time,and their stories about inscription as a gift.He,whose contribution is countless,used his hands and feet to finish this book with accumulation of years' work.In addition to Tour Record in Xi Mountain,Sheng Dashi has two more collections of poems,namely Poems of Yun Su Pavilior and Sequels to the poems of Yun Su Pavilior.These two collections of poems have collected all poems of Sheng Dashi from the fifty——eighth year of Qian Long In Qing Dynasty to the eleventh year of Dao Guang(1793——1831).They reflect his whole life track of the tour and activities.Besides,the collections also have a large number of Ti Hua Poems.Now,I try to accumulate and summarize his documents like Poems of Yun Su Pavilior,Sequels to the poems of Yun Su Pavilior,Tour Record in Xi Mountain and so and so forth.Sort out his painting theories and Ti Hua Poems,and write annotations after that.By annotating,look into what Dashi thought and proposed in his paintings.With the aim of making the content substantial and keeping readers convenient,analyze it in many aspects.First,talk about the genealogy of Sheng Dashi.In this part,use his works:Poems of Yun Su Pavilior,Sequels to the poems of Yun Su Pavilior and documents which are related and historical,to sort them out and put them in order as well as discourse upon works of his family.Second,analyze his tour also by combining related historical materials and making textual criticisms and explanations.Try my bestto use historical documents to describe details and dating back to the past can make hislook clear.Third talk about his chronology.In this part,also according to some documents such as Poems of Yun Su Pavilior,Sequels to the poems of Yun Su Pavilior and Tour Record in Xi Mountain,record his behaviors and actions as much as possible and show the life track of this famous scholar in Qing Dynasty as clearly and perfectly as possible.Forth,discuss about his work.Reorganize and compile through Poems of Yun Su Pavilior,Tour Record in Xi Mountain and related historical documents to get this part.There are 18 his paintings and 23 related works.This paper studies different aspects of Sheng Dashi,which provides the motivation and referenced value for studying him and his painting theories so that we can dig out the internal academical value as well as the meaning during the research proceeding process.Although the discussions in the paper are not as deep as the ocean,it has its effect.
