Research On Shan Dashi's "Records Of Reclining Journeys In Streams And Mountains"

Sheng Dashi was a literati who was “good at traveling to distant landscapes”in the middle and late Qing Dynasty,and was one of the representative figures of the Lou Dong School of painting at that time.His thoughts on painting were recorded in the book Xi Shan Reclining Journey,which not only contains records of his interactions with famous scholars from all over the world,but also has a high value in painting history.In this paper,we try to link the painting theory and painting history parts of Xishan Reclining Journey,and analyze them together with Sheng Dashi’s literary and poetry collections,respectively,from the three aspects of Sheng Dashi’s friendship with literati and elegant scholars,the characteristics of Xishan Reclining Journey as a history of painting in the form of notebooks “specializing in the study of painting matters,but also in friendship” and Sheng Dashi’s typical Qing Dynasty literati painting ideas.Through the combing and integration of his friendships and the systematic study of his painting theories,we try to summarize the development rules and characteristics of landscape painting at that time and explore the painting scene in the mid and late Qing Dynasty.
