Research On Indian Cultural Soft Power After The Cold War

The international situation has changed greatly,while the bipolar system also broke up after the cold war.The world trends to the structure of one superpower and multi powers.The India government adjusted its external strategy by the promotion of “Rao's Reform” and “Look East Policy” in order to adapt the new international situation.India has come to a new era of reform and development since then.With the economic take-off and the increase of attention-drawing,also in order to cooperate with the domestic reform wave and service its country strategy,India paid attention to build a welcomed image in the world.Although India is world's sixth-largest economy body and its political,economic and military power have great impact on Asia,there are still some biases.India needs to build the soft power to attract other countries so that improve the international image.Since The concept of soft power was proposed by Joseph Nye in the 1990 s,it has aroused fervent discussion among the academia and nation policy.Soft power has a special branch of cultural soft power which exert its influence with culture.The abundant culture has permeated to different aspects of life which provides the power to build the country.India has abundant cultural resources and cultural deposits,so India has done a lot of work on how to use these cultural content to exert its influence after the cold war.The paper divides the India cultural soft power into three parts: cultural soft power from cultural resources,industry and intercommunication.The paper states the process and achievement of constructing and developing these three parts of cultural soft power in India,in addition,it discusses the limitations of developing India cultural soft power and the solutions of handling the limitations.The paper considers that India has made achievements of cultural soft power by utilizing the cultural resources.However,India also didn't fully exert its cultural charm and lift the national image because of some limitations of culture,internal social problems and international strategy.So India still has long way to promote the cultural soft power.India is a rising power,especially after the cold war,India has grown rapidly.China and India are neighbor countries.It is significant for China to understand the development,change and application of the India cultural soft power after the cold war.
