On November 16,2016,the third World Internet Conference which is held in Wuzhen,Zhejiang Province released the World Internet Development Wuzhen report in 2016.The report shows that the users of global Internet raises to 3.5 billion, and the universal rate was 47.1%.The continuous development of the Internet and its far-reaching communication capabilities make the "global village" predicted by McLuhan became reality. To live better in this vast global village, the villagers need to get in touch with the outside world, and they must acquire and exchange information with each other. However, problem comes. In the new media era,the ways people get the information are partly moved to the Internet. And in order to use the Internet to facilitate their own lives, their own personal information should be “sold”.As we all know, today's big data and cloud computing increasingly developed, both the personal information we fill in the network registrations and web browsing traces can be easily obtained from the background by the merchants and be used to profit from.In other words, our phone numbers, home addresses, shopping habits,e-mail,photos we showed and geographical location and other information is always in the public state. Each of them is our privacy information. This article is about the infringement of citizen's privacy in new media era.It is divided into four chapters, the specific contents are as follows: The first chapter is the juristic and journalism research of privacy combining with the origin of privacy. The dynamic development of privacy right in different ages and different countries are also will be discussed in this article(combining with typical cases). The second chapter is the types and performance of the privacy infringement in the new media era,and summed up the infringement of the privacy right from three different subjects: Internet users, the press and the enterprise. The third chapter is about how infringement of privacy in new media era challenges the journalism theories and journalism practice, including three kinds of theoretical challenges and two practical challenges.Last,The author puts forward the protection strategy of citizens' right of privacy in the new media era based on four aspects: law, journalism professionalism, media literacy and social culture. As we all know, privacy is a kind of private area which is unrelated to the public interest and do not want to be disturbed by the outside world. The study shows that the traditional theory of privacy has been a serious challenge in the new media era. These challenges not only exist in the news theory level, but also exist in the specific news practice. What is worthy of our reflection is how the new media era should protect our personal privacy. And privacy is closely related to our happiness.John.Stuart Mill believes that happiness is not a simple arithmetic for our appetite and desire, the core of happiness is the unmeasurable rights of being alone in the society——the right that allows us to truly face ourselves as human beings. In the new media era,Mill's belief transferred into that the individual is free from the destruction of the network and maintain its original appearance. However, the prerequisite for the realization of this belief is: to protect personal privacy from external violations. The reason is,just like Nicholas Carl said: What we have not shared is just as important as what we have shared.
