Research On The Social Role Of Mass Media From The Perspective Of Public Crisis Management

With the constant development of the media industry,the continuous improvement of communication technologies and the increasingly diversified modes of communication,the role of mass media in people's production and life has become increasingly evident.Public crisis incidents also appear frequently in the public's view,because the mass media's various means information dissemination.After the occurrence of a public crisis incident,on the one hand,the mass media must identify and screen the most valuable crisis information which provided by the government to the public in a timely manner.The mass media use public opinion to guide and seize the high ground of public opinion and firmly grasp the public crisis.On the other hand,it is necessary to build a communication bridge between the government and the public to promote the exchange of information and promote a positive interaction between the government and the public.In this way,it is “safety valves” and “regulators” that promote social stability and harmony.In the dissemination of public crisis events,the government,the public,and the mass media themselves are full of expectation for the mass media in the social role played during the crisis.Generally speaking,as the main body of public crisis management,the government always expects the mass media to stand on the same front with them to resolve the crisis.Thus it can advance and retreat with themselves.While the public as a harmful people to the interests of the event,they hope that the mass media can play the role of watchers,early warnings of the social environment,and get the satisfaction of the public's right to know.The mass media itself has its own expectations of itself which basically consist with the expectations of the government and the public.However,from the perspective of news communication ethics and career ideals,the mass media also hope that they are the reporters,publisher of real information when the public crisis happened in the first time.However,after long-term practice has proved that the role of mass media in the handling of public crisis events is more or less influenced by various factors such as politics,economy,and itself,which makes the government and the public expect the mass media.There is a serious imbalance between the role of the mass media role-playing.Taking the mass media as the research object,this thesis takes Kunming Chenggong as the example which is the incidents of Chengguan beats sellman.It analyzes the causes of the role misorientation in the role-playing of mass media and gives full play to the mass media in the public crisis.It is hoped that the study of this article can provide a theoretical reference for mass media in the future news reports of similar public crisis events,thus it can reduce some unnecessary costs and losses for the government in public management.We must resist rumours,and creat a joint force for society to build a harmonious socialist society together.
