Textbook plays a vital role in teaching. For a teacher, it is the basis for teaching, and for the students, it is the carrier of student learning. The reform of teaching materials has been one of the key points in Curriculum reform. Since the late 20 th century, demand for foreign language professionals at home and abroad has been increasing. According to China's situation, the primary and secondary schools has been carried out education reform. Among them, the relevant reform of textbooks has become a breach in teaching reform. Meanwhile, as education reform, curriculum reform continued to deepen, and scholars and teachers pay more attention to the research on materials. Research on English teaching materials has also become an important part.As an English educator, it is important to find a more appropriate textbook in so many textbooks. The selected textbook should be able to improve the teachers' teaching effectiveness on the basis of students ' interest in learning. Since there are advantages and disadvantages in each set of teaching material, it is wise to suck the length and avoid the shortage of them to effectively integrate and creatively use them.This paper will take standard of New English Curriculum for theory, comparing and analyzing two sets of English materials published by Shandong Education Press and People's Education Press which are widely used by junior high school on Shandong province. Using literature method, compared method and statistics method, specifically discuss the similarities,differences, the advantages and disadvantages of the two sets of textbooks in vocabulary, the habits terms, syntax, language article and topic aspects intended to put forward opinions for preparation of teaching material and propose some thinking and recommends for selecting and using textbooks.By analysis and comparison between the two sets of teaching materials, the users can understand the current usage situation of the teaching material in time so that they can change their teaching method or learning method. The teachers can create harmonious and effective learning atmosphere, thereby improving the students' interest in learning.
