This research tries to study the implementation situations of task-based language teaching(TBLT) in the English class of junior high school. I analyzed the teachers' comprehension of TBLT and found out the problems and difficulties in their teaching. Then I made some suggestions so as to reduce the incertitude and obstruction to the implementation of TBLT.I chose 20 English teachers from a junior high school. First, I obtained the data of the questionnaire and found out the relevant problems. Then I observed their teaching for two months. I recorded and analyzed the behavior and the performance of teachers and students. I found out some other problems and analyzed the reasons.The results of the study are as follow: 1. Teachers have inadequate comprehension about TBLT. Some teachers lack some necessary information of TBLT and they just have a vague idea of TBLT. Some teachers are just on the sidelines for they have doubts about TBLT. 2. The implementation of TBLT is not ideal. Some teachers cannot design reasonable and valid tasks.Some teachers cannot figure out their roles. 3. Teachers have difficulty in implementing TBLT.Some teachers are overburdened because they are appointed as the head teachers, which cost them too much time. The polarization is aggravated in the TBLT classes, which widens the gap between excellent students and underachievers. Overabundance of students makes grouping more difficult. Evaluation mechanism controlled by entrance examination for secondary school conflicts with TBLT.Thus, I made the following suggestions: 1. Strengthen training for English teachers.Teachers need to strengthen their cognition of TBLT. 2. Teachers learn to design more reasonable and valid tasks and figure out their role. 3. Teachers use multiple evaluation standards to help students gain comprehensive development. Reduce the heavy business burdens of teachers. I hope this study can reduce the doubts of the teachers and promote the implementation of TBLT. This study also has some limitations. The analysis of the research is not comprehensive. The number of the subjects is small and the study period is short. I hope other teachers can do more study about TBLT so as to promote the implementation of TBLT.
