China has carried on the eighth curriculum reform at the beginning of the century, which emphasized the importance of inquiry-based learning.<Full-time compulsory education curriculum standard of biology > mentioned “inquiry” several times in curriculum concept? curriculum objective and content standard. And it put forward that teachers should understand and develop the inquiry, take the inquiry method into teaching and guide students to participate in the inquiry process.Various editions of biological materials that publish currently increase lots of inquiry activities to train the students' inquiry learning ability. The position of inquiry has become increasingly important in teaching.So it's very important to find out the development status of biology inquiry activities in junior middle school.Analysing reason and offering a proposal by finding out that will promote the inquiry-based teaching of biology. It also will be of great importance in practicing the goal of curriculum reform. But the reseacher didn't find any articles about the development status of biology inquiry activities by analyzing the research status at home and abroad,' inquiry activities” has so much space in researching.The issue surveys teachers and students in part of middle school in Shan Dong Province by questionnaire survey and interviewing to find out the development status of biology inquiry activities in junior middle school,the teachers' questionnaire survey proceeded in two aspects, one is using a software witch called “ surveying faction” by the internet, the other one is providing printed questionnaire to some biology teachers in Ji Ning?Qu Fu?Lai Wu?Tai An and Qing Dao. The number of students is more than the teachers, so it's more easy to survey. The reseacher chose 600 students in Qu Fu?Tai An and Qing Dao to survey. interviewing teachers in Chun Qiu Middle School in Qu Fu and Zhou Dian Middle School in Tai An can help us find out the development status of biology inquiry activities in junior middle school more truly?directly and relevantly.The two sides is consistent by analysing the results of the questionnaire and interview. The result proves that middle school biology teachers have gradually accepted the idea of new curriculum reform widely, and can apply it to practical teaching; Students like to participate in the inquiry activities, they can treat it in a positive and serious attitude. The development status and effect of inquiry activities is very optimistic. Carrying out the inquiry activities can inspire the enthusiasm of students to learn biology, can enhance the interest in biology learning, it can help improve the quality of biology at the same time. But there are many problems in the process of inquiry activities,such as “less time and more classes”?“poor condition”?“Inappropriate teaching methods' and so on. So the reseacher came up with a series of principles and strategies and put it into teaching practice.
