Higher education bears the important task of training talents and plays an important role in the modernization construction.Since the reform and opening up,China's higher education has achieved great development,provide a large number of high-quality talents for the society in various fields,but at the same time as system,realistic factors also exist some problems: the management system lacks the flexibility,management efficiency is not high;universities autonomy is not strong;the leadership of corruption the problems appeared frequently.To a large extent,these problems can be explained by the theory of "principal agent".The administration of organization and administration,the bureaucracy system is the first choice of modern universities.In the field of higher education there is naturally a principal-agent relationship,which not only inherits the general principal-agent relationship in common,but also has its own particularity,the particularity that the principal position and agent status.Therefore,compared with other principal-agent relationship,moral risk will be more frequent,the agents appear to be more serious.This paper is based on the principal-agent theory,firstly,using the method of literature,summarized the research and development of the agent problem of principal-agent theory,and try to find out why some problems in the operation of public colleges and universities on the basis of previous studies.Then,through the literature,the evolution of the principal-agent relationship in China's colleges and universities,analyzes the status quo and causes of the principal-agent relationship in China's public universities.It is concluded that the main reason for the problem of the agent of the public universities in our country is the principal agent relationship of the public colleges and universities.This principal-agent relationship caused the status of the principal and the agent is not clear,the agent chain is too long and thus lead to a series of asymmetric information and moral hazard problem,which leads to the ultimate goal deviation.Then,based on the hierarchical classification of the principal-agent relationship,combined with the empirical analysis of J University as an example,this paper further studies the current situation of the management of public universities.At the same time,by means of transforming and re attribution of the problems in the conventional view,the problem is to seek a more efficient way to solve the problem.Then,in theframework of the principal agent theory,the conventional methods of solving the agent problem are adopted,and the effective way to alleviate the problem of College agent is given.Finally,inspired by the comprehensive reform of the University of J,also by perspective transformation,according to the special situation of our country,the current existing system,combined with China's socialist core values,put forward some innovative solutions to alleviate the agency problem.
