Shanghai municipal education committee experimented between 2012 and 2016 on the reform of PE specialization in 74 senior middle schools in the city,which are classified into three groups.In 2015,the experiment,which focused on arousing students' interest in PE in primary schools and diversifying PE in junior middle schools,was officially launched.The early studies indicate that the problem that…exists in a large portion of senior middle schools which carry out the PE specialization or some similar teaching methods.This problem leads to multiple difficulties in teaching process and ensuring the teaching effects.Therefore,this issue focuses on how the diversification of PE in junior middle schools lays a foundation for the specialization of PE in senior middle schools,the effective engagement between them and the solution to related problems,such as the facilities,the professional training,the teaching materials selection,the teaching practice and the supervision.After analyzing and studying among the opinion and experiences of 500 students from the seventh and twelfth grade and 121 PE teachers from 10 junior and 10 senior middle schools in Shanghai,the research finds the following facts in present PE class: that the basic sports facilities can't meet the requirements of teaching some events,that there exists the gap between the teaching aims and the professional teaching qualities and the lack of related training programs;that widely variance exists in the events students are taught in their junior middle schools;that PE classes are intended only for some tests;and that there exist blindness in choosing events,instable teaching foundation,inapplicability of the textbook and the lack of engagement in the PE classes in senior middle schools.Conclusion: The facilities,though basically meeting the requirements of the engagement of the specialization items between the junior and senior middle schools,need further reforming and better establishing.The professionals are in the bad need of a stratified and systematized training because their insufficient professional teaching qualities have influenced the effective engagement of PE specialization.The overburden in daily work prevents teachers from the better engagement of PE specialization.The teaching material is certainly to be revised because it can't satisfy the practical requirements in the engagement of PE specialization.The exam-oriented teaching sets obstacles in PE specialization,leading to the lack of related learning experience among juniors.It is recommended to ensure the physical facilities base of the engagement of PE specialization,to establish an all-way communicating and training system of the engagement of PE specialization between the junior and senior middle schools,to ensure the policy to come into effect,to establish the supervising and assessing system,to strengthen the leading role of PE testing in the engagement of PE specialization between the junior and senior middle schools,and to form a complete and scientific system of the teaching material in the PE engagement between the junior and senior middle schools.
