The research of geographical experiment is developing constantly around the world, but many domestic researches focus on the arrangement of the content and the teaching method of middle school geography. The cultivation of scientific inquiry ability is very important for junior high school students to master scientific knowledge and research thinking. In this paper, through an empirical study, I will explore the role of the natural geographical experiment played on the development of scientific inquiry ability of junior middle school students. Combined with the specific cases,I will give some suggestions on middle school geography teaching .First part which expounds on the significance of the topic, reviews and analyzes the researches home and abroad, constructs the technical route of this paper, and puts forward the innovation. On this basis, it expounds on two of the most important concepts in this paper, that is, the meaning of geographical experiment and scientific inquiry ability. Then, it discusses the theoretical basis of the paper, including Dewey’s thought of "learning by doing", Gardiner’s theory of multiple intelligence, and Piaget’s theory of psychological development. Next, the author used questionnaires and interviews and conducted a survey of middle school geography teachers and students. The main purpose is to understand the view of teachers and students in middle school on the necessity and importance of geography experiment as well as its effect on training ability of science inquiry understanding. At the same time, it also provides a pretest data. With this work, the author selected the experimental group and the control group students, the students in experiment group-analyze the possible factors affecting the whole process in the experiment by observing the pH value of soil, and the author will make empirical observation, test will be made after the research. This research is to demonstrate the role of natural geography experimental teaching in the development of middle school students’ ability of geographical inquiry. At last, based on the previous investigation and empirical study, the author puts forward some suggestions on how to make better use of experimental content to cultivate students’scientific inquiry ability.
