| Scientific research data has showed a trend of exponential growth along with the development of E-Science environment and the rise of data-intensive research, which resulted in a series of data management problems that researchers had to face, such as data acquisition, data usage, data citation and data ethics, etc. And as a key concept of data management, data literacy has become one of basic competencies for scholarship communication and scientific research. In higher education, graduate students always play a crucial role in scientific research team as producers and users of research data.Academic library,"a second classroom" and an important unit of scientific research data warehousing, has been essentially and competently required to shoulder the responsibility of data literacy education owing to function transformation and service development,to support college’ research and education, promote the education reform and train applied talents with data literacy. At present, data literacy has attracted enough attention of library, and all kinds of library associations and research institutions, and academic libraries have been main participants in literacy education, taking types of programs, lectures, curriculums of data literacy education.Presently, researches review have not shown a unified understanding and integration of core content of data literacy education, also no specific framework as a guide for data literacy education, consequently restricting practices of that.Accordingly, how to effectively integrate the research and practice of existing data literacy education, sort out the core content of data literacy education, carry out targeted data literacy education based on the domestic reality, will well benefit information literacy education and data management of academic libraries,as well as data service development. The present work attempts to provide a content framework of data literacy education for postgraduates based on "3R Principles" and "Modules of Employable Skills",and then summarizes core knowledge points of data literacy education through analysis of character and content of curriculums in academic libraries at home and abroad.Considering that,a content framework of data literacy education has been built and applied combined with postgraduates’ status and expectations of data literacy.Concretely, the case study method were firstly utilized to discuss character and content of those curriculums. It generalizes three knowledge points of data literacy education as data awareness, data management skills and knowledge, concluding data awareness, data discovery and acquisition, data evaluation, data processing and analysis, data storage and protection, data exchange and sharing and data ethics.Secondly,a questionnaire survey has been carried out to understand the current status of data literacy of postgraduates in Southeast University, and their expectations for data literacy education. It reveales that they are poorly data literate in the lack of data awareness, insufficiency in data evaluation and data analysis, weak in data exchange, etc.Meanwhile, they has shown a relatively high expectation for data literacy education from library for better data management. Finally,a "modular" thought has been introuduced to modularize these knowledge points as an "KMDC" framework, and its application in disciplines of "Sociology" and"Engineering" would also be examined last. |
