The study of children's written expression is an important part of research on children's language development.Understanding,describing and analyzing the written expression characteristics of school-age children can enrich the content of children language development research and expand the research scope.The study on the characteristics of children's written expression is of great value to accurately judge the level of development of the written language of school-age children,to compile suitable Chinese teaching materials,and to improve the efficiency and quality of Chinese teaching.This paper mainly uses the content analysis method,analyzing the written exercises by first grade primary school pupils in aspects of description,narration,argumentation,and illustration.Take existed research and analysis results in account,this paper makes a intensive study on the characteristics of written expression of primary school students.Thesis includes 8 chapters.Chapter 1 describes the reason why chose the topic and its significance,analyzes the current research situation,introduces the research methods,and defines the core concepts.The second chapter introduces the choice of the research object,the design and implementation of the study,and elaborates the specific categories of first grade pupils' written expression characteristics analysis in the level of sentence and paragraph.The analysis of sentence expression mainly involves the total number of sentences,the average number of words,the types of sentences,the accuracy of sentences,the rhetorical devices in sentences and so on.The analysis of paragraph expression mainly involves the total number of words,the coherence between paragraphs,the richness of paragraph content and the consistency of paragraphs.Chapter 3 to 6,according to the category of analysis,analyzes the characteristics of exercises of one-year pupils in their descriptive written expression,narrative written expression,argumentative written expression and illustrative written expression specifically.Chapter 7,on the basis of the study of chapters 3 to 6,summarizes and abstracts the general characteristics of the written expression of primary school students by means of analysis,comparison,synthesis and so on.These characteristics include: onaverage students can write 3 sentences;average sentence length is 4.73 words;the average paragraph length of 15.8 words;single sentence is often used;accuracy is about 60%,verb predicate sentences are well used;almost no rhetoric device is used;the average coherency was 69%;the average consistency was 80%;the average topics number is 2.5.Chapter 8 expounds the enlightenment elicited by the study of the characteristics of written expression of the first grade pupils.The author believes that teachers should fully consider the students' learning situation,carry out various kinds of sentence teaching,and introduce rhetoric devices according to the students' capacity.Teachers should also take students' written expression errors as an important teaching resource,and design written expression training with various functions which are close to children's life.They should also provide model writing,carry out effective teaching,thus to effectively improve the quality of Chinese teaching in primary school.
