The Cohousing In America And Its Implications To Community Construction In China

With the continuous development and progress of our society,the space utilization and construction of community has become the focus of public attention,and the research and exploration of the use and construction of community space is also the need of social development.The emergence of modern community along with Urbanization,makes many people that are strange and without any other connections or relationships live together,the heterogeneity causes communication barriers greatly enhance,the fast-paced life and fierce social competition make that the residents have little leisure time,it further reduces the possibility of the neighborhood interaction,these all cause the increasing of problems existing in the community.At the same time,the problem of pension,child support of single mother,loss of independence and other social problems gradually highlight.Based on the literature review and combining the related cases study,this paper introduces the development process of cohousing in America and summarizes the characteristics based its core concept;discusses the outside space characteristics and community life style of American cohousing;then introduces the development of community in China,taking Wuhan City as an example,through the questionnaire survey,combined with American cohousing community experience on the basis of the concept of community,formed an system that can reflects the traits of cohousing based on the the concept of community,hoping can reflect the current situation and existing problems of our community space utilization and construction of.Finally,this paper summarizes the inspirations from American cohousing to community space utilization and construction in China.The results show that urban community residents have a certain degree of community attachment,but the scale of neighbourhood exchanges is small,the degree of neighbourhood familiarity is low,the frequency of interaction between community residents also declines substantially,the community neighborhood relationship is not too ideal.At the same time,most of the residents have a strong sense of ownership and community participation willingness,but the degree of actual participation is not high,residents are not satisfied with the community’s overall secuurity situation and their community space utilization,it is still need to be improved.On this basis,combining American cohousing experience,this paper puts forward some suggestions on perfecting our community space utilization and construction.
