Since the 1980s,economic globalization has become an important trend in the world, and links between different countries are more closely.Since China's accession to WTO,the grain market of China and international market integrated highly.International price of grain began to be lower than the domestic prices. And the import of the grain increased year by year.Domestic food production lost comparative advantage and the proportion of food crops reduced gradually.Due to geographical advantages, the development of globalization and urbanization in our coastal areas is in leading position, and therefore the impact on food production is more prominent. However the trend of grain production in different provinces is different. For example,Jiangsu and Zhejiang are both China's coastal provinces, and the process of development of globalization and urbanization are almost simultaneously. But their food production has a significant difference:Jiangsu province is still one of our major grain-producing provinces, and its food is self-sufficiency;however Zhejiang province has become one of the food-buying provinces, and needs to rely on food trade to meet its consumption.Comparing the condition of grain planting, there are significant differences in topography between two provinces.Did the topography of the natural resource endowment lead to the different trend? How do topography lead to it?What's the situation of food production and trade in the future? And answering these questions has very important significance to protecting our food security. This paper reviews the process of food production and trade in our country, and analyses the challenges of globalization on food production and trade.Firstly,we find that topography conditions have a significant impact on the grain growing area. Then we try to find how it effect.Considering factor substitution, this paper analyses the degree of substitution of mechanization and labor, and finding that the degree of Jiangsu is larger than Zhejiang.Lastly, this paper analysis the factor that causes the different substitution, then we find that the topography is the major reason.Based on above analysis, this paper finally analysis the effect of different production on grain trade, and predicts the production, consumption and trade of food in future. Then we find that the gap of grain demand and supply will be larger and the impact of food in our country will be more.International swap market has become a necessary complement.Grain production in Jiangsu province will be unable to meet the needs and the gap of Zhejiang province will be further expanded. At last, this paper concludes possible measures as follows:planning urban development scientifically and easing the conflict of arable land resource;promoting the development of agricultural science and technology and increasing food yields;increasing the investment of mechanical elements;using the international market properly.
